Overview

High Power PoE for Security and Public Service Applications
To fulfill the High Power PoE demand of Gigabit network applications, the new member in PLANET PoE Switch family – the GSD-808HP2 is an ideal solution. The GSD-808HP2 is equipped with eight 10/100/1000Mbps PoEports and internal power supply in a simple 13-inch, desktop size metal case. Each of the Gigabit ports feature High Power IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) that enables up to 30 Watts power output per port and data transmission both delivered over one Cat.5E / 6 Ethernet cable, providing double PoE power than current 802.3af PoE injector devices.
 
 
Plug & Play PoE Function
The 8 Gigabit High Power PoE ports in the GSD-808HP2 support both 802.3af and 802.3at PoE standards to allow users flexibly deploy standard and high powered devices simultaneously with no need of software configuration. By offering 240 Watts PoE budget, maximum eight 15.4 Watts IEEE 802.3af devices or eight 30 Watts IEEE 802.3at devices can be easily installed regardless of the power-socket limitation. Simply plug in the Ethernet cables and power cord, the GSD-808HP2 is ready to provide Gigabit high speed network communication and high power PoE injector functions.

Automatic PoE Management
To facilitate power management, the GSD-808HP2 implements powerful PoE intelligent features:
■ Over Temperature Protection
■ PoE Power Usage Display
The automatic Over Temperature Protection helps to prevent power budget overloading while the temperature rises. The four orange LEDs on the right hand side of the GSD-808HP2 front panel indicates “PoE Power Usage” by four levels - 25%, 50%, 75% and 95% positioned from the bottom to the top. With these LED indications, you can monitor the PoE power status of the GSD-808HP2 easily and efficiently.
 
 
Easy Installation & Cable Connection
Providing data transfer and High Power PoE capability in one unit, the GSD-808HP2 shall reduce the need of extension cables and dedicated electrical outlets on the wall, ceiling or any unreachable place. It helps to lower the installation costs and simplify the installation effort.

All RJ-45 copper interfaces in the GSD-808HP2 support 10/100/1000Mbps Auto-Negotiation for optimal speed detection through RJ-45 Category 6, 5 or 5e cables. It also supports standard Auto-MDI/MDI-X that can detect the type of connection to any Ethernet device without requiring special straight or crossover cables.

Application

High Power IP Surveillance and Wireless LAN Service in Public Transportation
Applying the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet standard, the GSD-808HP2 can directly connect with any IEEE 802.3at end-nodes like PTZ (Pan, Tilt & Zoom) network cameras, PTZ Speed Dome cameras, color touch- screen Voice over IP (VoIP) telephones, and multi-channel wireless LAN access points. Besides the wired Internet network, the wireless LAN would be more efficient for the transportation stations to provide high-speed and wide area Internet services for travelers. By adopting the PoE Wireless LAN structure, the transportation authority gains benefits from less cost while providing better Internet services in wider areas for the travelers.

With the business office expansion, the increased extension telephones required could be installed in less cost via the implementation of PoE IP Telephony system than that of the traditional circuit wiring telephony system. PLANET GSD-808HP2 802.3at Desktop PoE Switch helps enterprises to create an integrated data, voice, and powered network. It facilitates the construction of PoE IP Telephony system with PLANET 802.3af compliant IP Phones because the GSD-808HP2 can directly provide the power to PoE IP Phones and Analog Telephony Adapters via the standard Ethernet cable without the need of additional power cables.
